Today, Vantage is launching Amortization Toggling for Azure Costs in the Vantage console. Vantage customers can now switch between viewing their actual costs and their amortized costs in Cost Reports.
Previously, Vantage customers could view only their actual costs or their amortized costs within Cost Reports. This was due to the nature of how Azure stores their costs, which are in separate tables for actual and amortized spend. Historically, customers who wanted to view both their actual and amortized costs would have to perform the Azure integration in Vantage twice, and then manage which Azure integration was used for a report depending on how they wanted their costs shown.
Now, with Amortization Toggling for Azure Costs, customers can view actual and amortized costs directly in Cost Reports with a single Azure integration. Using the Settings within Cost Reports, customers can switch between actual and amortized costs in a single report, and save a Cost Report based on which view they want to persist.
To get started with Amortization Toggling for Azure Costs, review the Azure integration documentation.
1. What is being announced today?
Vantage is launching Amortization Toggling for Azure Costs, allowing customers to switch between actual and amortized costs within Cost Reports using the Cost Report Settings.
2. Who is the customer?
Any Vantage customer that has an Azure integration can use Amortization Toggling.
3. How much does this cost?
There is no additional cost for using Amortization Toggling for Azure Costs.
4. What is the difference between actual and amortized costs?
In Azure, ”actual costs” represent the cost of your resource usage as it appears on your bill, including any upfront purchase costs. “Amortized costs” distribute the cost of a reservation (like a reserved instance) evenly over the reservation term to reflect the cost on the day the usage actually occurs.
5. How do I toggle between actual and amortized costs?
You can toggle a Cost Report between actual and amortized costs by clicking Settings at the top of any Cost Report, and checking or unchecking the Enabled checkbox in the Amortization section.
6. Are unused reservations shown in amortized views?
No, Azure does not show unused reservations within their amortized views. If performing charge back for Azure cost data, ensure you use either actual costs or use Custom Providers to add in unused reservation costs to your amortized Azure views.
7. Do I have to change my existing Azure integration to use Amortization Toggling?
No, this feature is automatically available to all Vantage customers with the Azure integration with no additional changes.
Vantage announces the general availability of support for GitHub Costs via the newly launched GitHub Enhanced Billing API, allowing Vantage customers to track costs for GitHub services, such as Actions, Large File Storage, Copilot, Codespaces, and Packages in one place.
Vantage integrates with cur.vantage.sh to enable more clarity into AWS billing codes by linking to description pages for every AWS billing code.
Vantage is launching support for Re-Rating Tiered Discounts for MSP Managed Accounts. Vantage MSP customers can now re-calculate tiered pricing at a customer level, re-creating the pricing model customers would receive purchasing directly from a cloud provider, as well as removing free tier usage from newly created accounts.
